On July 12, the Charlotte Hornets defeated the Utah Jazz and won their first Summer League victory. Although the Jazz fought back in the second half, the Hornets eventually won 111-105, giving the Jazz a regrettable defeat.

In the first quarter, Simpson scored 11 points, and the Jazz responded with 10 points from Filipovsky, and the Hornets ended the first quarter with a 31-25 lead. In the second quarter, Simpson continued to output steadily, Collier contributed 7 points for the Jazz, and the Hornets took the initiative 60-48 at halftime.

Entering the third quarter, the Jazz stepped up their offensive, and Filipovsky scored 14 points in a single quarter, leading the team to quickly narrow the gap. At the end of the third quarter, the Hornets only led 87-84 . In the final quarter, Cody Williams scored 11 points to launch an attack, but Hornets substitute Liam McNealy scored continuously at the critical moment to help the team stabilize the situation and eventually win with a 6- point advantage.
